| ITINERARY |
We set off from Estancia La Paz early in the morning and head for “Esteros de Farrapos”, a swampy area lying on the Río Uruguay. It is a state property that covers an area of 17.500 hectares. It is also a valuable spot, home to several species of our fauna, some of which are critically endangered.
We will be met by a local guide who will help us to appreciate and explore the magnificence of nature and learn about its amazing flora and fauna. Birdwatching will also be part of the fun.
A delicious meal will be the excuse for a well deserved break. After lunch we will continue our journey up to “Colonia San Javier” a town located on the Río Uruguay. “San Javier” is a Russian colony founded in 1913 by peasants coming from Caucasus . At the time the Uruguayan government granted the new comers these lands to settle down.
Before we leave we will visit the local craftsmen and then we will start our trip back to Estancia La Paz where our journey comes to an end. |
